The Shelbyville ISD Police Department provides a wide variety of services to the District, staff, and students.  SISD Police Officers are fully licensed and commissioned Peace Officers. They must complete all State mandated training requirements. In addition, our Officers attend specialized training in school safety and security. The Department provides patrol of District property, police presence at athletic events, and criminal and administrative investigations. Police monitor incoming and out-going traffic during normal school hours to provide maximum protection and campus integrity for all campus personnel, students, and visitors. SISD Police Department protects the District’s investments along with Burglar and Fire Alarm monitoring and remote control camera monitoring of all campuses. The Department is prepared to handle crisis situations, alarm responses, bomb threats, and workplace violence. Escort for late night workers, and help in dealing with potentially violent students are among the services the Department provides to staff and students. Other services include gang identifications, intervening during fights, issuing tickets and/or effecting arrests for traffic/criminal violations, and providing a safe zone for arriving and departing students in student pick-up and drop-off areas. The Department also maintains a role in Truancy and AEP. The Shelbyville ISD Police Department provides special programs to students and staff, including crime prevention and 911, school safety, and drug and gang awareness programs designed to help students resist drugs, alcohol, tobacco, guns, and gangs. Our officers specialize in establishing a one-on-one rapport with students, parents, and staff and ensure that young students have a positive experience with law enforcement. All police officers work toward a common District goal of developing students who excel academically, reason and solve problems rationally, and act responsibly by displaying good character and citizenship. Key to this goal being accomplished is the continued assurance of a safe learning and working environment for students and staff while maintaining a strict position regarding drugs and alcohol, weapons, gang-related activities, all types of assault, and harrassment. The SISD Police Department fully supports the School Administration and works hand-in-hand with School personnel to provide our students with the safest, most effective learning environment possible. To report any suspicious or criminal activity call 936-598-2641, or inform any available school personnel.
