General Information

Students who read independently and in class have a more comprehensive vocabulary, achieve better in school, perform better on standardized testing, and tend to be more college successful.

Students will complete most of their work in class. Independent assignments should be completed as homework; this includes oral recitations and independent reading. 

Tutorials are held for my courses before and after school Monday - Thursday. 

Extra credit is available every 6 weeks. Extra credit may not be turned in the last week of a 6 weeks. 

Independent reading assignments are given every 6 weeks and will acount for up to 25% of a student's average.

Any oral recitation not completed within the 5 week timeframe of each 6 weeks period will be a grade of 0. The only exception is  a student who registers and takes the ACT test during a 6 weeks. 

Both English I and Pre A.P. I have and End of Course STAAR test at the end of March with a retest in July. 

Current school policy only allows the make-up of attendance and not course recovery during the summer. Summer school is also available to promote the success of the English I and English II STAAR EOC tests.
